It is normal to be nervous before performance.


Let your jitters have positive affect. It will instill an optimal focus level of mental arousal.


Placing an expectation of perfection on your performance is a big mistake.


Why do perfection expectations limit your performance?
It sets yourself up for a success/failure proposition. You either achieve your programmed expectation or fail to achieve it.


Let your passion, and joyful self, believe in yourself and absolutely let go of conscious expectation, and remove completely from your conscious thought what others will think.


Place your name here and say outloud. "A substantial source of performance anxiety for me comes from my need to have others 'approve' of me and my performance. I am not sure, but I might have the need to be admired, accepted, respected, or liked by other people. I worry about performing poorly because I think it may influence what others think about me. Within this craving of approval from others, I am more likely to become anxious or afraid to fail in performance. My need for social approval underlies and supports fear of failure".


What happens to any one of us when we want and need approval? We become anxious and stressed! Be mindful of your unconditional self love and self respect. Live in love of the self. The need for approval will melt away and you will feel it deep inside yourself more and more every day. As you accomplish this self love, all people will gravitate more to you and you will be free from the burden of the need of approval from others, and from this attitude your majestic performing self will blossom.


Be disciplined and move into narrow focus. Narrow your thoughts and vision on stage. Be aware of your center. And sing and make music for yourself.
